My week got cut short by a mandatory training. Apparently, I have to do 3 full days of training according to the government. On paper, it sounds better than in practice. Still, I decided to make the most of it and extract as much knowledge as I could to apply to Kairos and other projects I’m working on right now.

The main issue blocking the UKI builds turned out to be a cryptsetup change: from version 2.7 to 2.8, they no longer allow slashes in names. Since we were using the full path, that broke. Easy fix, easy local test—but testing in our pipelines is a lot more complicated unless we have released versions of all the components that make up Kairos.

Personally, I think this could all be simplified if the components lived in the same repo. But that’s one of those battles you never know if you want to fight because there will be casualties, LOL.

I quickly put together a landing page for showk8s.com. It’s public and available, but I still need to share it more widely and validate the idea—hopefully starting next week.

We had our event in Leuven on Thursday night and it was fantastic. The room was full, which always feels like a success, though I know it’s not the metric I want to use to measure the community’s impact.

What matters more to me is collaboration. I encouraged everyone to get more involved so this really becomes a communal effort, not just something driven by me and the other co-hosts.
